China’s portable power bank industry is undergoing one of the most significant regulatory upgrades in recent years, as the government continues strengthening safety requirements for lithium battery products. With the full implementation of China Compulsory Certification (CCC, also known as “3C Certification”), safety, compliance, and traceability are now becoming the new standard across the entire industry.
China Strengthens Safety Regulations for Power Banks
Since August 1, 2024, all power banks sold, manufactured, or imported into the Chinese domestic market are required to obtain valid CCC certification. Products without the official CCC mark are prohibited from commercial circulation in China.
The certification process includes strict testing requirements covering:
Lithium battery safety
Overcharge and over-discharge protection
Short-circuit protection
Fire resistance
Temperature resistance
Mechanical durability
Long-term charging cycle reliability
Industry experts believe the new regulations are accelerating the transition from low-cost manufacturing toward higher-quality and safer products.
Aviation Authorities Tighten Enforcement
In response to multiple lithium battery incidents on aircraft globally, China’s aviation authorities have also strengthened restrictions on uncertified power banks.
Starting from June 2025, passengers on domestic flights in China are no longer allowed to carry power banks without visible CCC certification marks. Power banks with unclear labels or recalled battery models are also prohibited onboard aircraft.
The move reflects growing international attention toward lithium battery safety in both consumer electronics and transportation sectors.
QR Code Traceability System Introduced
China is now moving one step further by introducing a CCC traceability QR code system for power banks.
Under the new pilot program, all newly certified power banks from March 1, 2026 onward must include a traceable QR code next to the CCC mark. Consumers and regulators will be able to scan the code to verify certification details, manufacturer information, and product status.
The initiative is designed to improve market transparency, prevent counterfeit certification labels, and strengthen product traceability throughout the supply chain.
Relink: Fully CCC Certified Across All Shared Power Bank Products
As a professional manufacturer specializing in shared power bank solutions, Relink has confirmed that all of its shared power bank products have successfully obtained valid CCC certification and fully comply with the latest Chinese regulatory requirements.
Relink’s certified product portfolio includes both power bank stations and lithium battery products designed for shared charging operations worldwide.
The company stated that safety and long-term reliability remain key priorities in product development, especially as global operators increasingly focus on battery quality, compliance, and operational stability.
Relink’s products are designed with:
High-quality EVE battery cells
Multiple protection systems
Real-time battery health monitoring
Fire-resistant materials
Durable cable structures
Long lifecycle charging performance
These features are particularly important for shared power bank operations, where products are exposed to high-frequency daily usage.
Industry Moving Toward Higher Standards
The implementation of mandatory CCC certification is widely seen as a major turning point for China’s power bank industry.
Manufacturers with strong R&D capabilities, strict quality control systems, and international compliance experience are expected to benefit most from the new regulatory environment, while low-cost, low-quality suppliers may face increasing pressure.
For overseas operators and distributors, CCC certification is also becoming an important benchmark when selecting long-term manufacturing partners.
As the market continues evolving, safety, compliance, and product reliability are no longer optional — they are becoming the core competitive advantages of the next generation of power bank manufacturers.
